How To Guide

Our products are suitable for shading natural or coloured/bleached/pre-lightened hair.

The end result of the colour is dependent on your hair prior to applying such as your natural hair colour, condition, porosity, thickness, length and any previous treatments. To obtain the desired colour, we recommend that you should carry out a strand test on a small section of hair before applying the hair colour as results may vary.

The colour should last between 4 and 8 washes depending on the chosen hair toner and the condition of your hair. You can repeat the colouring process any time without damaging your hair.

For best results, apply to pre-¬lightened / bleached hair.  The colouring process will only tint your natural hair colour and the result will not be as vibrant.

NOTE: This product is not an oxidant hair toner, so the effect may not be the same on grey hair. In this case, you may have to repeat the procedure for optimal effect.

  1. Apply a small amount of COLOR REBEL hair colour onto a small area of clean skin behind the ear on the inner area of your elbow and leave to dry.
  2. Leave for 48 hours without washing, covering or touching.
  3. If any irritation, such as itching, redness or swelling occurs in or around the test area, do not apply to the head.
  4. If you have experienced no adverse reaction after 48 hours, wash hair dye off and proceed with the strand test.

AFTERCARE

How to care for your hair after dyeing it:

  • The best shampoo is a sulphate free and/or low foam shampoo. These types of shampoos do not disturb the colour pigments as much as others do. Shampoos with anti-oxidants also help with colour durability.

The best way to wash your hair after dyeing it:

  • Ensure that the shampoo is low foam/ sulphate free. Do not scrub the hair for long. The longer the hair is wet, the more colour will be disturbed. It is best to use a leave in colour care conditioner with anti-oxidants, to avoid a final rinse. This will assist with longevity.

Going swimming after dyeing hair:

  • If you go swimming, please be advised that semi-permanent colours do run when your hair is wet so it’s best to use a latex swimming cap to keep the hair dry.

If your hair is too light after application:

  • The hair will not be too light after application as semi-permanent hair colour does not lighten the hair. It is free from hydrogen peroxide which is largely the lightening agents in permanent hair colours. Semi-permanent hair colour does not contain this element.

If your hair is too light after application:

  • Semi-permanent hair colour does not darken the hair per se. It simply adds a vibrant reflect and gloss to the hair. If very vibrant hair colours are desired like the indicators on the packaging, then its best to pre-lighten the hair prior to the application of the semi-permanent hair colour of choice.
